On September 17, a new Storm Squad Battle Pass, dedicated to the elite SEK special forces unit from Germany, will become available in Caliber.
In this article, we will talk about this unit, introduce you to a new Assault Faust, and remind you about main Battle Pass mechanics.
You can quickly move to any section through the navigation tab on the left part of the screen.
SEK (Spezialeinsatzkommando) is a German elite special forces unit that was established for performing complicated missions. They are called in when resources of the regular police force are insufficient: armed criminals, hostages, counter-terrorism, and protection of high-ranking officials.
The unit was founded in the 1970s after the tragedy at the Olympics in Munich. Back then it became clear that in order to deal with serious threats, operators with special training were needed.
It’s quite difficult to become a SEK soldier. Usually, candidates are selected from experienced police officers who undergo a tough selection: endurance tests, stress tests, and competing objectives under extreme conditions.
Only the best make it to the final stage. There, they receive training in assault tactics, firing proficiency, and melee combat. Training is conducted not only within the unit but also with other forces such as GSG 9 and foreign special operations units.
Before we head on to Faust, we’d like to tell you more about this unit’s common feature. With the 1.2.0 update, a new Electrified effect will come to Caliber.
That’s how it works:
Each SEK operator will use the Electrified effect in his own way. We will discuss Faust’s power a bit later in this article.
Faust’s main feature is his speed. While the ability is active, he moves at maximum speed while sprinting which allows him to be the first to arrive at the key points, close in on enemies quickly, and support allies in battle on different flanks.
Besides high Sprint speed, Faust inflicts increased firearm damage while the ability is active.
But there’s one limitation — Stamina: the ability consumes 15 SP per second. If you don’t control this parameter, there’s a risk of ending up on the enemy's territory without an option to sprint.
However, when the ability is inactive, Faust quickly restores Stamina (30 SP/sec.) which allows him to activate Blitz again really soon.
You can upgrade Blitz in different ways: reduce weapon spread, decrease reload speed, become invisible for turrets and mines, or even be able to destroy covers while sprinting. Explore available upgrades and choose the ones that suit your playstyle best.
SIG553 primary weapon. This rifle handles well, has a high rate of fire (11.5 shots per second), and is especially effective at short and medium range.
Basic modules:
HK P30 secondary weapon. This pistol deals significant damage (20 points body shot and 36 points headshot), and a new collimator sight makes firing more comfortable and precise. It really helps when your primary weapon is out of ammo.
GL5340 inflicts the Electrified effect at the impact point. This is a convenient tool to expel the enemy from their cover or to block access to an Ammo Box, a Hacking device, and other important objects on the map.
You can improve the special gear by upgrading it: increase the effect duration time, increase the damage area, and add extra effects, such as Slowed or EMP.
Besides, the upgrade #15 allows you to turn rounds into mines that detonate when an enemy enters their damage radius.
The upgrade system allows you to greatly improve Faust’s ability and special gear both in different ways—we talked about them earlier today. But remember: Faust is not just a lone wolf that can make a breakthrough thanks to his speed. His special trait reduces the primary weapon spread by 5% for each allied player in a 10 m radius.
We won’t tell you which upgrades you should choose—it’s up to you to experiment and find different combinations that suit your playstyle best.
Guardian of Efforts increases the received damage an enemy receives for each effect that is active on them—both positive and negative. The bonus depends on the skill level: +1 / +2 / +3%.
Only the operator with this skill equipped inflicts increased damage.
The Battle Pass episodes will be released one after another. The first one — Fist of Anger — is dedicated to Assault Faust and will be available for three weeks. Same as before, you can track the remaining time directly in the game.
If you like Faust, try unlocking him during this period.
The SEK operators will become available for purchasing on the website shortly after the Episode or the entire Battle Pass end. After that, they will become available in the game client for Coins, but the time margins haven’t been finalized yet.
What you need to know about the Battle Pass:
Same as before, in the new Battle Pass, the content of Customization Containers depends on the Episode you’ve chosen. In the Fist of Anger Episode, the rewards are meant for Assaults.
By completing the Episode, you’ll receive Assault Faust and all new content for him: Camos, an Execution, and a Reprisal. You don’t have to look for these items in containers — they will become available right away.
