Hello, soldiers!
From May 6 to September 23, a new Ranked Season will take place in Caliber.
Ranked Battles: Threshold mode will be a challenge for those who are ready to ascend to higher leagues and prove their supremacy in every battle.
Ranked Season is a competitive system, where players are upgrading their leagues by participating in Ranked battles.
For victories and completing objectives, you gain Rank Tokens which can be spent on exclusive customization items in the Ranked Armory.
The Frontier Guardian season rules are the same as in Season 10 (Guarding the Thresholds), where Threshold was the main game mode.
Now, let’s talk about the rules, so veterans can refresh their memory, and rookies can learn the basics.
In this game mode, players fight both against each other and bots. You can pick and ban operators and maps before the battle, just as in usual Ranked Battles.
MAIN RULES:
There is a Training tab in the mode selection window, where you can practice in the Threshold training mode—a separate version of the mode created for learning its basics.
В «Ранговых сезонах» может принять участие любой игрок, аккаунт которого соответствует условиям:
Leagues reflect the skill level of the players participating in Ranked Battles. Each League, except Diamond, consists of three ranks.
There are five Leagues in total: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.
Your starting League will be decided by the results of the placement matches—your first five battles at the beginning of the Season. Your further advancement depends on your performance in battles: victories bring you Rank Points, while losses deduct them.
To be placed in a starting League, players have to complete five placement matches. The placement will help define the skill of each player and place them into an appropriate League.
The highest possible League after placement is Gold.
All players start their placement matches with the same number of Rank Points. This parameter will be hidden until the placement is completed. Each victory earns a certain number of Rank Points, and losses do not deduct any points.
Your placement result determines your starting position: the more victories you have, the higher place you’ll take.
Aside wins and losses, placement takes personal efficiency into consideration. The more effective you are on the chosen role, the more Rank Points you will be granted.
Individual efficiency allows distributing players to Leagues at the start of the season more accurately and making the first matches more balanced and captivating.
Each consecutive win will grant more Rank Points. The highest Rank Points bonus will be awarded for the fifth victory in a row. Defeat will reset the win streak.
The League you were in at the end of the previous season will be taken into account during placement.
Bonus Rank Points will be awarded when your starting position is defined after five placement matches.
After each battle, the number of Rank Points will change.
The number of Rank Points you can gain or lose depends on the average rating of the team you are playing against, compared to your team.
If you end up being the most effective player of the match among both teams, but your team loses the match, then you will lose 80% Rank Points less.
Effectiveness is determined by the amount of acquired Ribbons:
If the two best players have the same number of Ribbons, this bonus will not be applied.
Highlighting the most efficient player of the losing team is required to place players more accurately among the League without making individual achievements too important—the team standing matters most.
Every rank has its own Rank Points limits.
For example, in Gold I, there will be players whose Rank Points are 800-899. When a player earns 900 Rank Points, they will automatically get to Platinum III.
The Diamond League has a leaderboard, which includes the top eight players with the highest number of Rank Points.
When the number of Rank Points falls below the limit, there will be a demotion.
To prevent players from losing their rank too quickly, there is a protection from demotion at the lower border:
Example: Bronze II with 105 Points will lose only 5 Points instead of 10 after defeat in a match.
To sum up: you can lose up to two battles in a row at the lower limit without losing your rank.
During matchmaking, the system tries to pick players from one League or that are two Leagues apart maximum. The main goal here is to form two equally powerful teams, based on their participants’ ratings.
Sometimes in a match you may encounter solo players with a large difference in Leagues. This happens when the system tries to find suitable players for way too long. That said, the average rating of both teams is usually equal, so the balance remains.
If you play in a fireteam that contains players from different Leagues, the matchmaking of the opposing team will be carried out based on your team’s top-ranking players. However, a victory with such a fireteam will earn fewer Rank Points.
For example: if you are in the Bronze League and a teammate in your fireteam is in the Platinum League, you can encounter opposing players from the Gold, Platinum and Diamond Leagues.
Rewards for victory depend on the difference between Leagues in a fireteam:
The system tries to pick opponents based on players in your fireteam.
For example, if you are going into battle with a fireteam of 3 and one random player, then the system will try and match you against a fireteam with the same composition. But if conditions are not suitable, the system will add smaller fireteams or solo players to the search. At the same time, fireteam rating, the time spent searching for a battle, and the distance of players from the servers are also taken into account.
If you reach an advanced League, you will have to regularly prove your mastery.
In Gold League and higher, your rating will decrease every Wednesday for inactivity. To avoid this, you must play a certain number of matches in Ranked Battles every week.
The higher the League, the more battles you have to play, and the more Rank Points players will lose for inactivity.
Ranked Battles have strict penalties for leaving prematurely:
If a teammate who is not on your fireteam leaves the battle, you lose only 50% of the normal number of Rank Points if defeated.
Rank Tokens is a seasonal currency that can be spent on purchasing exclusive items in the Ranked Armory. They can be earned in different ways:
This is the main way to earn the currency.
Each League reward is available once per Season.
At the end of the season, you will obtain a reward for the League in which you finish the season.
You can spend your Tokens in the Ranked Armory to purchase Epic Outfits, Executions, Emotes, Camos, and HQ Backgrounds.
The Ranked Armory will be open throughout the Ranked Season and for one week after it ends.
Rank Emblems change dynamically depending on your League.
