RE: Balance — update 0.22.2

Hello, everyone!

In the new RE: Balance, we will buff the use of gas and add a new visual effect for it, merge the EMP and Confused effects together and, of course, change the characteristics of some operators.

POISONOUS GAS CLOUD

Gas gets little use nowadays. That’s not surprising at all, seeing as a lot of gas-mask-clad operators who are completely immune to poison have been added to the game.

And if you use gas against an operator who is not immune to poison, they can simply run away from the area of effect.

We’ve decided to buff the poisonous cloud, and here are the results:

1. Gas will not only inflict poison, but will also slow enemies down by 25%. This only applies to operators who don’t have poison immunity.

2. Gas will impair visibility. This one applies to everyone, including operators in gas masks. So don’t hesitate to use it against Kit or similar operators: it won’t damage them but will make them very uncomfortable.

The gas buff also applies to chemist bots in the PvE modes, and to the new gas barrels that can be found on the Amal Harbor and Polar Station maps in some modes.

EMP AND CONFUSED

The EMP and Confused effects work similarly to each other: the former blocks the activation of abilities, and the latter cancels active abilities. So, we’ve decided to merge them.

With the release of the update, EMP will become the ultimate weapon against operators who mostly rely on their abilities in battle. The Confused effect will be removed from the game.

This change will buff all operators who can inflict EMP.

MINES

A small change to mines: all mines in the game will be destroyed after one hit. Yes, that includes Corsair’s C4.

OPERATOR BALANCE CHANGES

SAS

Special gear:

  • Ammo increased: +2 grenades.
  • Throw distance increased.
  • Damage per second increased from 10 to 20.

Changed linear upgrade #6: The Slowed effect will be applied while holding any weapon, not just the sub-machine gun.

  • Modified upgrade #12-1:

Current: "Special gear upgrade. Increased ammo: +1 magazine. The special gear can no longer penetrate cover."

Version 0.22.2: "Special gear upgrade. Increased ammo: +1 magazine. Body damage: −10. Headshot damage: −12."

  • Modified upgrade #12-2:

Current: "Special gear upgrade. Special trait: Enemies hit by the special gear receive increased bullet and explosion damage. Incoming damage: +25%. Effect duration: 5 sec."

Version 0.22.2: "Special gear upgrade. Armor penetration: +40%. Body damage: +12. Headshot damage: +12."

  • Modified upgrade #12-3:

Current: "Special gear upgrade. Special trait: hitting an enemy with the special gear inflicts the Crippled effect. Effect duration: 3 sec."

Version 0.22.2: "Special gear upgrade. Special trait: Hitting an enemy with the special gear inflicts the Stunned effect for 2 sec. The special gear can no longer penetrate cover."

  • Chain Healing ability: Improved the ability’s logic. It will be much easier to hit targets now.
  • Chain Healing ability: Reduced the activation cost from 70 SP to 60 SP.
  • Operator’s base Stamina increased from 500 SP to 600 SP.
  • Amount of Stamina drained while sprinting decreased from 9 to 8 SP.
  • Primary weapon: Decreased maximum spread accumulation rate by 30%.
  • Special gear: Increased hitbox size to make it easier to hit the mine.
  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.
  • Primary weapon: Vertical recoil in full auto mode decreased by 38%. Recoil after the first shot decreased.
  • Standard sight: Adjusted field of vision while aiming.
  • Low magnification scope: Adjusted field of vision while aiming.
  • Primary weapon: Adjusted mouse sensitivity while aiming.

ALPHA

  • Added a new #7-2 upgrade: "Special gear damage against destructible cover increase: +50%."
  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • Field Dressing ability: Travnik will recover his own HP while healing a teammate. Recovery: 2.5 HP/sec.

Game designer’s comment: Travnik’s self-healing will now be a base feature instead of an upgrade to be unlocked.

  • Field Dressing ability: Healing efficiency increased from 7.5 HP/sec. to 12.5 HP/sec.
  • Modified upgrade #12-1:

Current: "Increases speed of restoring HP to a teammate upon using the ability. Heal amount: +7.5 HP/sec. Activation cost: +5 SP/sec."

Version 0.22.2: "Increases speed of restoring HP to a teammate upon using the ability. Healing amount: +5 HP/sec. Activation cost: +5 SP/sec."

  • Modified upgrade #12-2:

Current: "Special trait: HP recovery to a teammate partially heals the operator. Heal amount: 0.5 HP/sec."

Version 0.22.2: "If the operator’s HP drops below 50 HP, they start regenerating up to that value. The operator must not take damage for 7 seconds. Regeneration rate: 5 HP/sec."

  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.

SSO

  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.
  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.

22 SPN

  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.
  • Added a new #3-2 upgrade: "Special gear damage against destructible cover increase: +50%."

GROM

  • The Thunder ability will now inflict the EMP effect on an enemy after they’ve been hit three times with the operator’s primary weapon.
  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • Modified upgrade #15-1:

Current: "Special trait: an enemy in the special gear’s area of effect receives the Slowed effect. Slowed rate: 25%."

Version 0.22.2: "Special gear upgrade. Increased ammo. Ammo: +2 p."

Game designer’s comment: Since gas will now inherently slow enemies down, the upgrade will be changed to an ammo increase instead.

  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • Added a new #8-3 upgrade: "Supersonic ammo. Headshot and body shot damage reduction: −5. Increased bullet velocity. Weapon returns to base position faster after firing."

KSK

  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.

SEAL

  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.
  • Movement speed increased from 3 m/s to 3.2 m/s.
  • Sprint speed increased from 4.5 to 4.7.
  • Stamina consumption while sprinting decreased from 14 to 12 SP.
  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • Special gear: The projectile is destroyed in one hit.
  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.

TFB

  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.
  • Primary weapon can now pierce through two targets. Both enemies receive equal damage.
  • Added new upgrade #13-3: "Removes the Sprint penalty after firing. Decreases the slowdown rate suffered after firing."

Game designer’s comment: I recommend the new upgrade to players who prefer to move actively and fire at mid- and close-range.

  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.

ARYSTAN

  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.

SSO RB

  • Added a new #2-2 upgrade: "Special gear damage against destructible cover increase: +50%."
  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • The ability can now be cancelled by pressing the activation key again.
  • The Suture ability heals instantly now.
  • Upgrade #9-2: "Increases HP restored by the operator when using the ability": HP restoration increased from +5 HP to +10 HP.
  • Stamina consumption while sprinting decreased from 13 to 11 SP.
  • The operator will now always restore Armor when using the ability on themselves without having to unlock the upgrade.
  • Increased base Armor by 20 points.
  • Modified upgrade #7-1:

Current: "Increased base Armor. Armor: +20 AP."

Version 0.22.2: "Reduced cost of Sprinting. Sprint cost: −2 SP/sec."

  • Modified upgrade #15-1:

JIAOLONG

  • The special gear is destroyed in one hit.

BOPE

  • Linear upgrade #2 now increases movement and sprint speed while holding any weapon.
  • Added new #8-3 upgrade: "Special trait: Special gear ammo is now replenished every round."
  • Eagle eye ability: Increased the ability’s effective range from 100 m to 250 m.
  • Priority Target personal skill: Now also blocks healing for the target.
